‘We will kill you’: Trump asserts after US strikes ISIS in Somalia

Palm Beach, United States: President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the United States military conducted air strikes on Islamic State group in Somalia after he ordered ‘precision Military air strikes’, news agency AFP reported.

Taking to his social media platform ‘ Truth Social, Trump said: ‘This morning I ordered precision Military air strikes on the Senior ISIS Attack Planner and other terrorists he recruited and led in Somalia.’

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that ‘multiple operatives’ were killed in the strikes targeting IS-Somalia operatives in the Golis mountains in the Puntland region.

‘Our initial assessment is that multiple operatives were killed in the airstrikes and no civilians were harmed,’ Hegseth was quoted as stating.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Ali, a military commander in Bossaso area told the news agency AFP that the missiles are believed to have precisely hit the targets, adding that ‘We don't know so far the number of the casualties’.

‘We believe there are casualties of the terrorist leaders, including the foreigners who the Puntland forces were chasing in the last few days,’ he was quoted as saying.

Another official linked to the army, Abdirahman Adan, reported that ‘five loud explosions’ were heard along with smoke billowing up over the area.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed that strike could undercut ‘ISIS's ability to plot and conduct terrorist attacks threatening US citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians and sends a clear signal that the United States always stands ready to find and eliminate terrorists who threaten the United States and our allies.’

Experts have warned of Islamic State’s growing activity in Somalia although it has a small presence here, compared to the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab.

Trump asserted in his post that ‘The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that 'WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!’
