Setback for actor Mukesh: SIT files fresh chargesheet
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: Serving a huge setback to Malayalam actor Mukesh, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the sexual harassment cases against him, has chargesheets on 10 out of the 90 cases. The latest chargesheet was on a rape case that allegedly happened in Maradu.
Mukesh, also an MLA of Kerala’s ruling CPI(M), was charged with these after the release of the Hema Committee Report.
OnManorama reported that the latest chargesheet filed against the actor was last week, and it includes circumstantial evidence and digital communications between the actor and the survivor.
Earlier, the SIT filed another chargesheet in a case registered in December 2024 in Wadakkanchery. This case was filed by Mukesh’s colleague over an alleged incident of sexual assault that took place at a hotel here during the shoot of the film “Natakame Ulakam” in 2011. The actor alleged Mukesh allegedly attempted to assault her physically and pushed her into a bed. It was the same actor who filed a complaint against Mukesh in Maradu.
While special leave petitions (SLP) are challenging proceedings against Mukesh in the Supreme Court, SIT is moving forward with filing chargesheets, reported OnManorama. Recently, the top court reserved judgment on three SLPs, which challenged the Kerala High Court’s direction from October 2024 to register cases based on statements from woman actors to the Hema Committee.
In November, one of the cases filed against him was withdrawn by the complainant. The complainant, also an actor, reasoned then that the government did not give any support for her case against the actor.
