New York: US President Donald Trump has ordered government officials to raise number of arrests of illegal immigrants to at least 1,200 to 1,500 a day, The Washington Post reported.

The sweeping raids happening across the country maybe catching a few hundred a day which Trump wants to ramp up.

President also reportedly ordered each of ICE's field offices to achieve 75 arrests per day.

In the event of officials failing to make the target, managers would be held accountable, according to Daily Mail.

Trump’s aggressive deportation policies have let down many liberals and celebrities in the US.

Actress Selena Gomez posted a tearful video reacting to Trump’s immigration crackdown.

The Emilia Perez star, 32, broke down in her Instagram story on Monday that ran with the caption “I’m sorry" alongside a Mexican flag emoji.

In the video which was quickly deleted, Gomez expressed her anguish saying: ‘All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.’

However, Tom Homan, who is Trump’s Acting Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, responded to Gomez’s video saying 'no apologies'.

'If they don't like it, then go to Congress and change the law. We're going to do this operation without apology,' Homan told Fox News.

Homan further added that 'We're gonna make our community safer... It is all for the good of this nation. And we're gonna keep going. No apologies. We're moving forward.'

Trump’s deportations of undocumented immigrants raised concerns that it could cause family separations.

Homan responded to the charge saying: 'I don't think we've arrested any families. We've arrested public safety threats and national security threats, bottom-line.’

Gomez reportedly deleted her video after social media users slammed her ‘for not using her reported net worth of $1.3 billion to take action herself.’

American journalist and political commentator, Megyn Marie Kelly criticized the actress for ‘putting on a display of crocodile tears.’
