Saudi students prepare to compete in Global Formula 1 in Schools challenge

Four Saudi teams, comprising 24 male and female students, are set to represent the Kingdom at the Formula 1 in Schools World Final, scheduled from November 23 to 26 at the Dhahran Expo. This marks the first time Saudi Arabia will host the prestigious global event, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
The competition will see Saudi students competing against 55 teams from 62 countries, drawn from a pool of 28,000 schools worldwide. Participants face the challenge of designing and manufacturing miniature racing cars, showcasing their expertise in engineering, innovation and teamwork.
The teams have undergone nine months of intensive preparation under the supervision of Ithra, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture. The training program, supported by 37 local and international experts across six specialized centers, has equipped students with advanced skills in design, engineering, and collaboration.
“We are proud to offer programs that reflect the scientific progress witnessed by the Kingdom on multiple fronts", said Noura Al-Zamil, programs manager at Ithra. She emphasized the importance of empowering youth in science, design and innovation to position them as future leaders of Saudi Arabia’s creative industries.
More than just a contest, the Formula 1 in Schools program offers students a transformative educational experience. Participants gain crucial skills in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving while fostering creativity and innovation.
Al-Zamil noted that the initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, a national strategy aimed at enhancing youth capabilities and preparing them for leadership roles in future-focused industries.
“This program nurtures ambitious talent and highlights the capabilities of Saudi students on a global platform,” she added.
As Saudi Arabia hosts the Formula 1 in Schools World Final for the first time, the event reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing youth education and scientific innovation while fostering global collaboration.
