Centre reportedly asked Suresh Gopi not to continue acting
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Union Minister Suresh Gopi, an actor-turned-politician and MP from Kerala, is reportedly asked by the central government not to continue acting in films while bearing office. Ministers are prohibited from engaging in other salaried employment. It is reported that the actor, who had signed a contract to act in films, had sought permission in this regard.
Suresh Gopi had grown a beard to complete the film 'Ottakomban', which has started shooting. The actor said that his beard is the highlight of his character in the film. However, Gopi shared a beard-free photo of him on social media a day ago. After this, there were reports that the actor had not received permission from the Center to continue acting.
It is reported that the Union government has given instructions to Suresh Gopi to focus on his ministerial responsibilities and not on acting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are also said to have objected to his request to continue acting. It is learned that the BJP state committee is also deeply dissatisfied with his acting while bearing the office of the minister.
The important scenes of the movie 'Ottakomban' are to be shot at the festival of Kurishupalli Maatha in Kottayam’s Pala in Kerala. The festival falls on the 7th and 8th of December. The first part of the film was shot during the festive days of last year. It is suggested that Suresh Gopi got rid of the beard in the situation that the movie 'Otakkomban' will not materialize soon. Meanwhile, there has been no response from the actor in this regard.
