6.0 magnitude earthquake strikes Japan’s Kyushu, no injuries reported

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale shook Japan's Kyushu region on Wednesday evening, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

The tremor was recorded at 7:34 pm IST, with its epicenter located at Latitude 31.09 N and Longitude 131.47 E.

The NCS reported that the earthquake originated at a depth of 30 kilometers beneath the surface. Sharing details of the seismic event on X, the NCS stated, “EQ of M: 6.0, On: 02/04/2025 19:34:00 IST, Lat: 31.09 N, Long: 131.47 E, Depth: 30 Km, Location: Kyushu, Japan.”

No casualties or significant damage have been reported so far, and authorities are monitoring the situation for further developments.
