BSNL launches IPL 251 plan offering 251GB data for 60 days
text_fieldsBSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has introduced a new prepaid recharge plan priced at Rs. 251, aimed at attracting cricket enthusiasts during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The plan, named IPL 251, is offered as a Special Tariff Voucher (STV) and provides users with 251GB of data for a validity period of 60 days.
According to the state-owned telecom operator, this plan follows a Fair Usage Policy (FUP), allowing users to enjoy unlimited internet access until the data cap is reached, after which speeds are reduced to 40 Kbps. However, it's important to note that the IPL 251 STV does not include its own service validity and requires an active base plan to function.
BSNL’s competitors, including Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Vi), have also introduced IPL-themed plans to attract viewers. For instance, Jio's Rs. 100 plan offers a complimentary, ad-supported JioHotstar subscription for 90 days.
Meanwhile, Airtel has rolled out two new cricket packs with similar benefits. The Rs. 100 plan provides 5GB of data with a 30-day validity along with a 30-day JioHotstar subscription, while the Rs. 195 plan offers 15GB of data and a 90-day JioHotstar subscription.
BSNL is also making strides toward rolling out its 5G network, with testing currently underway in cities such as Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Patna. The operator plans to launch its 5G services within the next three months, starting with Delhi under a Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) model.
