Karnataka man murders wife, 2 kids before dying by suicide

Kalaburagi: A 45-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and two children before hanging himself at their apartment in Kalaburagi on the evening of April 2, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place at Gabre Layout, near Old Jewargi Road, under Station Bazar police station limits. The deceased have been identified as Santosh, a Senior Assistant at Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited (GESCOM), his wife, and their two sons, according to police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman and children were strangled to death, while Santosh died by suicide. A death note was recovered from the scene, indicating ongoing disputes within the family.
"Initial findings reveal that the couple had been married for 10 years but frequently argued. They had cut ties with their extended family for the past seven years. The death note mentions persistent misunderstandings and quarrels as the reason behind the act," Police Commissioner Sharanappa S D stated.
According to police, after killing his wife and children, Santosh made a phone call to a member of his wife's family, informing them about the incident and expressing his intention to take his own life. Despite efforts to dissuade him, he went through with it.
"When family members arrived, they found the door locked from the inside. After breaking it open, they discovered the bodies," police said, adding that forensic teams, fingerprint experts, and the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) team had inspected the site. The exact time of the incident is yet to be determined, but it is believed to have occurred between 6-8 pm.
A case of murder has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
