Post against Gandhi's 'killers': X suspends Swara Bhaskar's account
text_fieldsSocial Media: Elon Muak, the social media platform, permanently suspended actor Swara Bhaskar’s account after she posted a Martyrs's Day post. January 30th commemorates Mahatma Gandhi's martyrdom after a plot hatched by Hindu terrorists assassinated him.
The account is suspended, claiming copyright violations.
Bhaskar posted two images that claimed to be violating copyright rules.
The first image carried a well-known protest slogan in Hindi, which reads, “Gandhi, we are ashamed; your killers are alive.”
The second was a photo of her child waving the Indian flag, though the child’s face is covered.
Bhaskar slammed the platform for suspending the account, calling its move ridiculous and untenable.
She wondered how the two images constitute copyright violations and said the account must have been suspended after mass reporting to silence her.
She wrote on Instagram, "If these tweets have been mass reported, it is an effort to harass me and suppress my freedom of speech."
Swara has been strongly vocal against right-wing and Hindutva ideologies and elements. Due to her politics and stance on various issues in the country, she has faced backlash many times.
