Petrol bombs thrown at Tamil Nadu cinema theatre screening 'Amaran'

Tirunelveli: Two unknown assailants hurled petrol bombs at a cinema hall in Melapalayam early on Saturday, where actor Sivakarthikeyan's biographical drama 'Amaran' was being screened. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported, according to the police.
The incident occurred when two individuals threw the bombs inside the compound wall of the cinema complex, causing an explosion. Police are investigating the matter but confirmed that no one was harmed.
Tamil Nadu BJP vice-president Narayanan Thirupathy strongly condemned the attack, alleging that it was linked to protests by Islamic fundamentalist organizations such as SDPI, MNMK, and Thouheed Jamath. These groups had previously objected to the film, claiming it depicted Muslims as terrorists, particularly in scenes involving the portrayal of Indian Muslims as martyrs and patriots. The movie also depicted terrorist activities in Kashmir.
Narayanan Thirupathy stated in a social media post that these organizations, unable to tolerate the film’s success among the people of Tamil Nadu, resorted to violence by hurling petrol bombs at the cinema screening 'Amaran.'
