'Ek hain toh safe hain' now 'maha-mantra' of the country: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday told his party workers at the party headquarters in New Delhi that the resounding victory in Maharashtra assembly polls sends the message of 'Ek hain toh safe hain' meaning united, we are safe.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance won 235 Maharashtra Assembly seats reducing the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi to 49 on Saturday, gaining absolute majority.
With the Ekanth Shinde-led government to expire on Tuesday, the alliance has to decide on forming the next government in about 48 hours.
Hailing the party’s victory PM Modi said ‘After Haryana, the biggest takeaway from the Maharashtra elections is the message of unity. 'Ek hain toh safe hain' has resonated as the 'maha-mantra' of the nation’.
Saying that the biggest message from the results in Maharasthra is unity, he added that the victory delivered a blow to the forces that seeks to divide the nation along the lines of caste, religion, language and region.
He claimed that every section of society including Tribals, OBCs, Dalits rallied behind the BJP-NDA, giving a ‘strong rebuttal to the Congress and INDI alliance’s divisive agenda’.
Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi's managed to take the lead in only 50 seats.
Lauding the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, PM Modi said this is the biggest victory for any party or alliance in the last 50 years in Maharashtra breaking all records.
PM Modi added that Maharashtra is the sixth state to give a mandate to the BJP three times in a row.
The BJP has won 133 of the 149 seats it contested, while the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) pulled off 56 and Ajit Pawar's NCP 41.
The Congress was reduced to just 16, the Shiv Sena(UBT) in 21 and the NCP(SP) in 10.
