The ruling NDA government has strongly defended the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, despite opposition claims that it's unconstitutional and specifically targets Muslims.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena have publicly questioned Shiv Sena (UBT)'s stance on the Waqf Bill, wondering if the party has abandoned Bal Thackeray's ideology. This comes after Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant criticised the government's handling of the bill during a Lok Sabha debate. Sawant also raised concerns about the vandalism of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb.
