Huge expense: US stops deporting illegal immigrants by military crafts
text_fieldsWashington DC: The US has stopped deporting migrants on its military aircraft due to the huge financial expenses. It is presumed that military aircraft were also used with the intention to warn that strict action would be taken against illegal immigration.
They used to deport migrants to their homeland or Guantanamo on military aircraft, and the last time illegal immigrants were flown like that was on March 1.
The Trump administration deported illegal Indian immigrants by military craft thrice, and each trip reportedly cost Rs 26.12 crore. Accordingly, the expense on Indian immigrants alone reached Rs 78.36 crore.
Similarly, the US has spent a huge sum to transport illegal immigrants to other countries.
Further, when a military aircraft was used to transport just a dozen people to Guantanamo Bay, it cost up to $ 20,000 per person. While the aircraft used for deportation costs between $ 8,500 and $ 17,000 per hour, the US Transportation figures show that the cost of using a military aircraft, a C-17, for one hour costs $ 28,500.
