'Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar' festival to screen iconic films across India
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and veteran lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar on Sunday announced a special film festival, 'Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar', celebrating the actor’s remarkable contribution to Indian cinema. The festival will bring some of his most iconic films back to theatres.
The festival is set to commence on Aamir Khan’s 60th birthday, March 14, and will run until March 27 across PVR INOX theatres nationwide.
The films to be screened under 'Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar' include 'Dangal', ' Idiots, 'Lagaan', 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke', 'Raja Hindustani', 'Ghajini', 'Akele Hum Akele Tum', 'Andaz Apna Apna,' 'PK', 'Dhoom 3', 'Rang De Basanti', 'Ghulam', 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak', 'Secret Superstar', 'Laal Singh Chaddha', 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Sarfarosh', 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar', 'Talaash', 'Fanaa', 'Dil Chahta Hai', and 'Dil'.
Javed Akhtar praised Aamir Khan’s fearless approach to choosing films, highlighting his willingness to take risks in his career. “Aamir worked with Ashutosh (Lagaan) even after their previous collaboration was a flop. He agreed to 'Dil Chahta Hai', a film by a new director, Farhan Akhtar, featuring three heroes. Who else would have taken on 'Dangal', playing an old wrestler who loses to his daughter in 'kushti'? Most actors work only with directors who have delivered hits, but Aamir takes chances that no one else would,” Akhtar remarked.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is gearing up for his next film, 'Sitaare Zameen Par', a spiritual successor to his critically acclaimed 2007 directorial debut 'Taare Zameen Par'. While the upcoming film will have an entirely fresh storyline and characters, it is expected to carry forward the essence of the original. The film is slated for release later this year.
