New Delhi: Actress Nayanathara’s wedding in 2022 to Vignesh Shivan, who she met first on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in 2014, was all planned in just ten days, says a documentary.

Nayanathara, born Diana Kurien changed her religion in 2011, wanted to tie the knot with Vignesh at Tirupati Tirumala temple but it did not come through due to logistical issues, according to The Indian Express.

Tina and Saurabh of Shaadi Squad, the team behind several celebrity weddings, told the documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale’ that they came to know that venue was changed but there was no change to the date, adding ‘we immediately flew down to Chennai’.

“The day we got a call that Tirupati is not happening, we immediately flew down to Chennai. Despite the venue was changed, they didn’t want to change the date,” they were quoted as saying.

The members of the team that planned the weddings of Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif-Vicky Kaushal, and Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas added that about 7,000 people worked overnight for the preparation of the wedding.

‘On the wedding day, about 200 security personnel were hired for just manning the structure. Nobody’s phone was allowed at the venue,’ they added.

South Indian star herself was not sure if the wedding could be pulled off in just ten days adding ‘it all seemed quiet impossible’.

The actress who wanted a typical Hindu wedding said that since she was a born Christian her mother wanted to see her in Christian attire hence she thought wedding should be ‘mix of both a Hindu and a Christian wedding. So we kept it a Hindu wedding with an English touch’.

She opted for a red saree with Vignesh's name on it rather than going for typical Kanjeevaram saree as she had appeared in several films, adding ‘so, it wouldn’t feel like my wedding for me.’

Since everything was planned in a short time, she had no pre-wedding festivities; however, her family and friends eventually put together an impromptu mehendi ceremony the night before the wedding.

Celebrities including Rajinikanth, Mani Ratnam, Shah Rukh Khan, Atlee, Suriya and Jyotika attended her wedding and a day after the ceremony, the couple visited the Tirupati temple.
