Indian budget airline expands with two new direct flights to Abu Dhabi
text_fieldsAkasa Air has launched daily direct flights connecting Abu Dhabi with Bengaluru and Ahmedabad as part of a codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways. The new routes aim to strengthen connectivity and enhance the growing aviation corridor between India and the UAE.
The first Bengaluru-Abu Dhabi flight took off from Kempegowda International Airport at 10:00 am IST on March 1, landing at Zayed International Airport at 12:35 pm AST. Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad-Abu Dhabi route will commence with its inaugural flight departing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:45 pm IST on March 1, reaching Abu Dhabi at 1:00 am AST on March 2.
These additions complement Akasa Air’s existing Mumbai-Abu Dhabi service, which began in July 2024. With the latest expansion, the airline will operate 21 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and three major Indian cities.
Akasa Air’s leadership has emphasized the airline’s growing international footprint, with 17 percent of its fleet of 27 aircraft now dedicated to overseas routes. The airline continues to expand its domestic network as well, recently announcing new services connecting Hyderabad and Delhi with Darbhanga, Bihar, starting April 4. This marks Darbhanga as Akasa Air’s 28th destination, highlighting its vision towards increasing accessibility across India and beyond.
