Bomb threats at hotels in Thiruvananthapuram; no explosives found
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: Several hotels in Kerala's capital, Thiruvananthapuram, received bomb threats via email on Saturday, prompting police to deploy bomb disposal units and dog squads for thorough inspections.
An officer from the Cantonment police station confirmed that inspections were underway at all the hotels where the threats had been reported.
"Nothing has been found so far. The inspections are ongoing," the officer stated.
Authorities are also investigating the source of the threatening email, which claimed that IED explosions would take place at multiple hotels across the city, including the prominent Hilton Hotel located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram.
This incident comes amid a spate of similar threats in the state over the past few months. Bomb threat emails had previously targeted district collectorates and Revenue Divisional Officer offices across Kerala, as well as the Kerala High Court. In all these cases, extensive inspections were carried out, and the threats were ultimately deemed hoaxes by the police.
