Prime Minister Narendra Modi

New Delhi: A recent survey by a poll agency revealed that more and more people are losing hope of a better quality of life under the Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the Centre. The survey comes as the Centre is preparing to deliver its Union budget 2025, Siasat reported.

The C-voter, a polling agency, surveyed 5,269 people across India and found that 37 per cent of them lost hope of quality life.

After its survey in 2013, the current one gave the worst results regarding the BJP-led administration in the Centre.

More than two-thirds of the respondents believe that inflation increased unchecked hitting the quality of life hard, after Modi took power in 2014. Nearly half of the respondents noted stagnant salaries.

Youth who have enough qualifications are finding it hard to acquire jobs after Modi’s ascent, and a sharp decline has been noted in employment since 2014.

Further, India ranked 126th in the global happiness index, and the ranking suggested that it is the older population that has higher life satisfaction.

The UN’s International Day of Happiness found that India has been even behind Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Palestine and Niger.

Citing the survey, Siasat reported that the young are the “happiest” while the lower middle class is the least happy.

Meanwhile, the national capital, Delhi, is going to the polls on February 5th. Here, an inch-inch battle is expected between the BJP and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The people’s mandate here might indicate what India wants and whether the C-Voter survey holds water.
