Dadri: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed on Saturday that Mughal emperors Akbar and Aurangzeb were never heroes and it was Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Guru Govind Singh. He claimed that the Haldighati war gave the status of a national hero to Maharana Pratap, who forced Akbar to kneel while Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj forced Aurangzeb to kneel, The Indian Express reported.
Speaking at an event where he unveiled the statue of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap in Dadri on Saturday, Adityanath said that those who could be included in the category of heroes are those sons of mother India whose entire life was dedicated to the country, those who dedicated their lives to the homeland and religion and those “who agreed to eat bread made of grass but did not bow down before oppressors,” TIE quoted.
He claimed that those who came to destroy Sanatan Dharma could not be the national heroes of India. These national heroes are an inspiration for independent India, and those who cannot give respect to these heroes are suffering from some mental disorder and need treatment.
Without respecting the national heroes, the current generation cannot move ahead, and they cannot be inspired, the BJP CM said.
The CM continued that people spread rumours of pollution about Maha Kumbh Mela, which recently concluded at Prayagraj, but it did not stop people from visiting the event. He claimed that flowing water and wandering ascetics can never be impure.
Amid concerns and clamour on the poor condition of Ganga water at the Maha Kumbh, which contains faecal bacteria as well as deadly levels of BOD (biological oxygen demand), Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had claimed that the water is not only clean but also fit for bathing and ritual drinking (aachman). He claimed that the Uttar Pradesh Control Board and the Central Pollution Control Board are continuously monitoring the water quality at the Sangam. This is despite the government's own data that there was the presence of harmful pollutants in various ghats of Prayagraj.
