Bhopal: After an Instagram influencer from Madhya Pradesh, Tanya Mittal, commented that terrorism has no religion, it irked a section of social media users. Following this, the Madhya Pradesh government also came out saying that she was not associated with their tourism department, distancing from the influencer's comments, The Indian Express reported.

It was in the wake of a deadly attack on tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam that Mittal issued the comment, saying anything on this issue is critical and sensitive for me. In the media, there is talk of terrorists and terrorism. I, on the other hand, think terrorism has no religion.”

She said that local Kashmiris were there to help her friends to bring them to Srinagar.

“This is a time when we all have to think sensitively… Terrorism has no religion. India has only one religion, that is Bhartia. We are all Indians, and we are together in this,” she added.

But her comments triggered outrage among some sections on social media. Many of them called for a boycott of her, while some claimed that she has been creating content for the Madhya Pradesh tourism department as an ambassador.

It was after this that the state tourism department issued a clarification, “Please note that Ms Tanya Mittal is not associated with MP Tourism in any capacity.”

In another news, Madhya Pradesh Police took action against individuals for allegedly posting inflammatory content on social media regarding the Pahalgam incident that killed 26 people. Two people were arrested in Damoh district on Thursday for alleged inflammatory content on Facebook, while Jabalpur police booked a man for an alleged similar offence.
