India and US coordinate for extradition of 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana
text_fieldsIndia is actively working with US authorities to expedite the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
The move follows a ruling by the US Supreme Court on January 21, which rejected Rana’s review petition, clearing the path for his extradition to India.
“We are now working with the US side on procedural matters to ensure the early extradition of the accused in the Mumbai terror attack,” said External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Friday.
Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, was convicted in the US for his role in supporting terrorist activities. India has been seeking his extradition to face trial for his alleged involvement in the 26/11 attacks, which left 166 people dead in Mumbai.
