text_fieldsNew Delhi: The iconic Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhavan, formerly known as the Mughal Gardens, opened to the public on Sunday, inviting visitors to explore its lush landscapes. The garden will remain open six days a week, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Mondays reserved for maintenance.
Bookings for entry can be made through the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website.
This year’s Udyan Utsav, a stunning exhibition of landscaping, promises to captivate visitors with a vibrant array of flowers, including tulips, daffodils, Asiatic lilies, oriental lilies, and various rare seasonal blooms. The focal point of the garden is its breathtaking floral displays, notably the tulips and over 100 varieties of roses.
Amrit Udyan, located in the heart of Delhi, is easily accessible from all parts of the national capital and neighboring cities via public transport and the Delhi Metro. The Central Secretariat Metro Station and Shivaji Stadium Metro Station are both within a 2 km radius.
Special access days will be dedicated to specific groups, with differently-abled visitors invited on March 26, defense, paramilitary, and police personnel on March 27, women and tribal women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) on March 28, and senior citizens on March 29.
The sprawling garden complex includes the East Lawn, Central Lawn, Long Garden, and Circular Garden. Additional gardens developed during the presidencies of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Ram Nath Kovind have also been added, such as Herbal-I, Herbal-II, Tactile Garden, Bonsai Garden, and Arogya Vanam.
Visitors can explore several unique attractions, including Bal Vatika, a garden designed specifically for children, featuring a 225-year-old Sheesham tree, a treehouse, and a nature-based classroom. The Bonsai and Circular Gardens offer a diverse range of plant species, while the food court provides a place for visitors to relax and refresh. Ongoing exhibitions further enhance the overall experience.
The opening of Amrit Udyan marks a special opportunity for the public to connect with the beauty of nature and heritage in the heart of the nation’s capital.
