Latifa bint Mohammed launches AED180M ‘Dubai Cultural Grant’ initiative

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, led by H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has launched the 'Dubai Cultural Grant' programme, a groundbreaking initiative designed to elevate Dubai's cultural and creative sectors. Announced during an event at the Etihad Museum, the programme aims to distribute AED180 million in grants over the next ten years, fostering growth across a wide array of creative industries, including visual arts, design, culinary arts, literature, gaming and more. This initiative is a significant step in solidifying Dubai’s position as a global hub for culture, creativity and talent.
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid stressed Dubai’s dedication to supporting the arts and creative industries, stating that the emirate continues to lead globally by nurturing entrepreneurship and attracting talent. The program’s vision reflects Dubai’s progressive outlook, focusing on investing in future generations to ignite a cultural movement. She described the grants as a transformative opportunity for creatives to bring their unique visions to life while contributing to the city’s vibrant cultural economy.
Key highlights of the programme include initiatives such as the Emirati Creatives in Venice, which offers local artists opportunities for cultural exchange at the Venice Biennale, and the Etihad Museum Research Grant, which provides annual awards of AED50,000 to support research into Emirati heritage. Other notable projects include culinary training for Emirati chefs in collaboration with ICCA Dubai, immersive jewellery design programmes with L'École and environmental art grants through Art Jameel.
The program also focuses on global exposure for Emirati talent, exemplified by the Shatha Essa Kids brand, which became the first Emirati childrenswear label to be featured at Harrods, London. Initiatives such as the Dubai Design Week Grants and Art Dubai Participation Grants further enhance the visibility of Emirati artisans and artists on international platforms. In the literary domain, the Exporting Local Literary Talent programme connects Emirati writers with global literary festivals, expanding the reach of Emirati literature.
