India’s premier institutes IIM, IIFT expand to Dubai
text_fieldsIndian higher education is making further inroads abroad, with new campuses of two major institutes—Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)—planned for Dubai. The development was confirmed by India’s Minister of Industry and Supply, Piyush Goyal, during a media briefing on Tuesday.
“Today, we decided that we will soon have an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Dubai. I am also looking forward very soon to launching the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Dubai. All of this reflects the deep connection between the two nations,” Goyal said.
IIMs are known for their strong academic reputation and presence in 21 cities across India. Several of these institutes regularly feature in global rankings of top 100 business schools.
The IIFT, founded in 1963 and headquartered in New Delhi, will also be joining the list of Indian institutes expanding internationally.
“Details on where the institutes will open and when will be revealed later.”
This announcement follows the recent establishment of the first international campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Abu Dhabi.
The expansion signals growing educational ties between India and the UAE and provides students in the region access to Indian academic institutions without relocating to India.
