Two-state solution essential for lasting regional peace, says Saudi FM

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, stated the urgency of the two-state solution as the sole viable path to achieving a lasting resolution in the region. Speaking at the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Prince Faisal conveyed the deep commitment of Arab and Islamic nations to de-escalate tensions, halt Israeli violations and ease restrictions on humanitarian aid.

The summit, convened to address the escalating regional conflict, focused on strengthening Arab and Islamic cooperation and engaging with the global community to secure an immediate ceasefire. Prince Faisal emphasized the critical need to prevent the conflict from spreading further, highlighting the threat posed by ongoing Israeli military actions to both regional and global stability.

Addressing the press, Prince Faisal called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility by pressuring Israel to cease actions that hinder peace efforts, including its withholding of Palestinian tax revenues despite prior commitments. He pointed out that this move strains the Palestinian Authority’s administration of its territories. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s steadfast support for the Palestinian Authority, recognizing its role in managing the West Bank and Gaza despite significant obstacles.

The summit marked a unified stance among Arab and Islamic nations, reaffirming their dedication to achieving a just and comprehensive peace through diplomatic cooperation and sustained advocacy for the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
