Saudi Aramco has announced the discovery of 14 new oil and gas sites across the Eastern Province and the vast Empty Quarter desert. The announcement, made by Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, further cements the Kingdom’s position as a global energy leader and aligns with the goals outlined in Vision 2030.

The latest round of discoveries includes six new oil fields, two oil reservoirs, four natural gas reservoirs and two gas fields. These findings span key regions within the country and showcases Saudi Arabia’s deepening hydrocarbon resources and exploration capabilities.

Among the standout oil discoveries, the Jabu oil field in the Eastern Province yielded very light Arab crude at a rate of 800 barrels per day from the Jabu-1 well. In the Sayahid field, the Sayahid-2 well produced 630 barrels per day of similarly light crude. A significant output was recorded at the Ayfan field, where the Ayfan-2 well generated 2,840 barrels per day of very light crude, alongside 0.44 million standard cubic feet of natural gas. The Berri field confirmed crude flow in its Jubaila reservoir, producing 520 barrels per day of light crude and 0.2 million standard cubic feet of gas from the Berri-907 well. In the Mazalij field, the Unayzah-A reservoir showed promising results, yielding 1,011 barrels per day of premium light crude and 0.92 million standard cubic feet of gas from well Mazalij-64.

The Nuwayr field, located in the Empty Quarter, delivered 1,800 barrels per day of medium Arabian crude and 0.55 million standard cubic feet of gas from well Nuwayr-1. Additional discoveries in the Damdah and Qurqas fields added to the growing list of oil-producing sites, although their outputs were relatively smaller.

On the natural gas front, the Ghizlan field in the Eastern Province emerged as a major source, producing 32 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 2,525 barrels of condensate from well Ghizlan-1. The Araam field followed closely with 24 million standard cubic feet of gas and 3,000 barrels of condensate from well Araam-1. In the Mihwaz field, an unconventional gas discovery in the Qusaiba reservoir yielded 3.5 million standard cubic feet per day and 485 barrels of condensate. The Empty Quarter also delivered significant results, particularly from the Marzouq field, where the Arab-C and Arab-D reservoirs produced 9.5 and 10 million standard cubic feet of gas per day respectively. The Upper Jubaila reservoir from the same field contributed an additional 1.5 million standard cubic feet daily.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman emphasized that these discoveries reaffirm Saudi Arabia’s position in the global energy landscape. He said that the new findings will strengthen the Kingdom’s ability to meet both local and international energy demands, support sustainable development, and enhance economic diversification.

The discoveries are expected to play a crucial role in driving economic growth, attracting investmentand advancing the Kingdom’s energy transition and sustainability objectives, all while reinforcing its leadership in global energy markets.
