Thiruvananthapuram: Two siblings from Maharashtra were found dead in a hotel room in Thampanoor, Thiruvananthapuram, on Sunday morning, police reported.

The deceased, identified as Dattatreya Bamane (45) and Muktha Bamane (48), were natives of Pune and had checked into the hotel last Friday. The hotel staff became suspicious when the room remained locked in the morning and alerted the local police.

Upon arrival, police found Dattatreya hanging, while Muktha was discovered dead on the bed. A suicide note was recovered from the room, written in English, which stated that no one was responsible for their deaths and mentioned that they were unemployed.

Police are trying to contact the relatives of the deceased and are exploring the possibility of a murder-suicide. However, a preliminary inspection did not reveal any signs of injury or assault on Muktha's body. The inquest procedure is ongoing, and the bodies will be sent to the Medical College for autopsy.

Thampanoor police have recorded a case of unnatural death, and investigations are underway to understand the circumstances that led the siblings to travel to Thiruvananthapuram and take such an extreme step.
