Veteran Journalist and Author Humra Quraishi Passes Away
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Delhi-based author and columnist Humra Quraishi passed away at age 69. Quraishi wrote political, cultural and literary columns for several national media outlets alongside literary reviews in periodicals.
Quraishi also co-authored 'The Good, the Bad and the Ridiculous: Profiles' and 'Absolute Khushwant' with the late Khushwant Singh.
Alongside writing three books about Kashmir including the critically acclaimed ‘Kashmir – The Unending Tragedy: Reports From The Front Lines’, Quraishi set aside income from her books for orphans in the valley.
She contributed regularly to publications including Hindustan Times , the Tribune, The Week and Tehelka.
She had been running a column 'Nerakurikal' in 'Madhyamam' for over a decade.
She was married to former Chief Election Commissioner S .Y. Qureshi and was later divorced.
Her family—daughter Sarah, son Mustafa, and other family members—in a heartfelt statement said that ‘It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved Humra Quraishi’, Times Now reported.
Her mortal remains will be interred at 10:00 am Friday at Anjuman Baghiya in Gurgaon.
