Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh booked for issuing threats against police
text_fieldsHyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party’s Telangana legislator T Raja Singh is facing two cases with multiple charges over violations of law during the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra he led on Sunday, The Indian Express reported.
In one First Information Report (FIR), T Raja Singh, known for inflammatory speeches, faces charges including criminal intimidation, obstructing a public servant from performing duties, and intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace.
In the second FIR, he is booked for disobeying a lawful order issued by a public servant, and public nuisance and the cases were registered at Mangalhat police station respectively on April 8 and 6.
Speaking in Telugu, the BJP lawmaker asserted that he was making a statement to the police in front of him to stop the vehicle, warning that if they hit his activists he would also hit them with the same baton, adding ‘remember that I have the guts. Don’t raise my BP’, according to The Indian Express.
The lawmaker is also facing a case for allegedly violating or disobeying the orders of the Additional Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City, Vikram Singh Mann.
The charges include causing inconvenience to the public and disrupting free flow of traffic by using more number of heavy vehicles and high-volume DJ.
The Hyderabad police had given conditional permission to the lawmaker to conduct the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra procession on Sunday prohibiting the use of DJ sound systems, drone shooting and bursting off crackers.
