Attack on Saif A Khan: suspect reportedly detained in Chhattisgarh
text_fieldsMumbai: The suspect in the horrible incident of break-in at Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan’s and stab attack on him and his maid has been reportedly detained at a Chhattisgarh railway station, NDTV reported.
The 54-year-old actor, husband to Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, suffered serious stab wounds on his neck, spine, etc. after the intruder broke inside the couple’s apartment in Bandra here. The horrible incident happened in the wee hours of Thursday.
Police identified the suspect as Sandeep, alias Akash, who was detained at the Durg railway station.
Sources from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) said that the suspect was caught by the Mumbai-Howrah Jnaneswari Express after a tip-off from the Mumbai Police. The train reached the Durg station around 2 pm on Saturday, and the suspect was nabbed. He is being grilled, RPF informed.
They also said that Mumbai Police shared the suspect’s photo, train number and location with RPF. They informed Mumbai Police about the suspect being detained, and a police team is currently on the way to Durg station to confirm whether the detained person is the suspect.
Following the attack, Saif was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital in an autorickshaw, and he underwent emergency surgery. Medicos removed a 2.5-inch blade from his spine after a 5-hour-long surgery. However, Khan, who was stabbed six times, is reportedly recovering well.
The attacker was caught twice on CCTV in the apartment building while taking the stairs to reach Saif’s and fleeing it during the night of the attack. Later, he was spotted at the Bandra railway station and also Dadar railway station. It is believed that he took a train to leave Mumbai.
