text_fieldsUnion Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that a grand temple dedicated to Sita Mata will soon be built, emphasising its significance as a symbol of woman power and an ideal way of life.
Speaking at the Shashwat Mithila Mahotsav 2025 in Ahmedabad, he also praised the people of Mithilanchal and Bihar for their contributions to Gujarat’s growth.
"When I visited Bihar during the Lok Sabha elections, I had said that after the completion of the Ram Mandir, the next step would be to build a magnificent temple for Sita Mata. This temple will stand as a global message of women’s strength and the values of an ideal life," Shah stated.
Acknowledging the Bihari and Mithilanchal communities settled in Gujarat, Shah assured them that they are respected, safe, and an integral part of the state’s progress. He highlighted their rich intellectual and cultural history, dating back to the times of the Ramayana and Mahabharata.
He further noted that the ancient kingdom of Videha, part of Mithilanchal, played a crucial role in shaping democracy. Quoting Mahatma Buddha, he remarked, "As long as the people of Videha stand united, no one can defeat them." He credited Mithilanchal for being a pillar of democracy and a land that nurtured intellectual debates (Shastrartha) for centuries.
Shah emphasised the region's historical significance in Indian philosophy, stating that four of the six major philosophical schools of India originated from Mithilanchal. This reinforces its reputation as a center of wisdom, spirituality, and knowledge.
His speech resonated with the attendees, as he connected Mithilanchal’s ancient legacy to its modern contributions, reaffirming its importance in shaping India’s cultural and intellectual landscape.
