Rajkot: A tragic incident unfolded in Gujarat’s Rajkot, where a 14-year-old boy, Badal Santoshbhai Thakur, lost his life after being struck by a water bottle thrown from a moving train. The accident occurred in the Shapar-Veraval area on Monday while Badal was playing near the railway tracks with a friend. In a sudden and devastating moment, a bottle filled with water, hurled from the Veraval-Bandra Terminus (Mumbai) train, hit him with force. He lost consciousness immediately and was declared dead on the spot.

According to reports, the bottle was thrown by a passenger seated in the first coach of the speeding train. Tragically, it struck Badal on the chest, leading to his untimely death. Shapar police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the incident. His body was sent for forensic examination at Rajkot Civil Hospital to determine the precise cause of death.

Badal was the only son of his parents, who originally hailed from Madhya Pradesh but had been residing in Gujarat for over two years. His father ran a fabric business in Rajkot.

Earlier this year, a similar incident was reported on a Mumbai local train. On March 11, around 8:30 PM, an 18-year-old female passenger on the Titwala local narrowly escaped injury when an empty alcohol bottle was hurled into the ladies' compartment from a passing train heading towards CSMT. The bottle shattered upon impact with the coach walls, but the passenger remained unharmed.
