Guwahati: Following the elections in Assam, the Congress and the AIUDF have shifted their MLAs to a resort in Jaipur, fearing the BJP would potentially 'fish' for their legislators. 22 MLAs from the opposition were shifted to the Fairmont resort in Jaipur, the same resort the MLAs were housed last July after a crisis arose in the party.

'Fishing' is a repeated tendency of the BJP against Congress after being defeated in elections. Congress' Randeep Singh Surjewala has asked all allies to maintain caution.

All those at the resort would be taken care of and their expenses met by Congress. The Rajasthan Assembly Chief Whip of Congress Mahesh Joshi has also commented that the possibility of the BJP buying off MLAs always exists. The elections for 126 of Assam's constituencies happened in three phases between March 27 and April 6. Results will be declared on May 2. The grand alliance, which includes Congress and the AIUDF, are expecting to return to power this time.
