    Margherita goes for BJP

    BJP candidate Bhaskar Sharma maintained the  Margherita seat by defeating Manoranjan Borgohain of the Congress party. 

    In the 2016 Assam Assembly elections, Bhaskar Sharma had won  this seat by defeating Pradyut Bordoloi of INC by a margin of 22,744 votes which was 16.63% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 55.85% in 2016 in the seat.

    BJP's Ajanta Neog wins Golaghat constituency.

    Former Assam Minister ande ex-Congress leader,  Ajanta Neog won from the Golaghat constituency. He defeated Congress' Bitupan Saikia by 9036 votes.

    Salmara South candidate,  Wazed Ali Choudhury offers another win for the Congress party . The other contenders were BJP's Asadul Islam and NCP's Jenat Mollah.

    Congress wins in Chaygaon and Mariani

    Rekibuddin Ahmed of the Congress party secured victory in Chaygaon by defeating Kamala Kanta Kalita of AGP. 

    Also, Rupjyoti Kurmi of Congress won the Mariani seat beating his BJP opponent Ramani Tanti.

    AGP president Atul Bora wins from Bokakhat

    AGP president Atul Bora defeated NCP's Mridul Saikia to win from Bokakhat by 33,800 votes.

    In the 2016 Assembly polls, he created history by becoming the first non-Congress candidate to win from this constituency. He has served as the founder-chairman of the North-East Students' Coordination Committee and the AASU chief in the past.

    Assam State Congress president Ripun Bora defeated

    In a massive setback to Congress, its Assam unit president Ripun Bora lost to BJP's Utpal Borah by 14,118 votes. Bora made a political comeback after being discharged in the Daniel Topno murder case in 2014 by bagging a Rajya Sabha ticket two years later. While his wife Monica Bora won this seat in 2011, she lost to BJP's Utpal Borah in the previous Assembly polls by 28,935 votes.

    Akhil Gogoi leading in Sibsagar

    while BJP and AGP are leading in 72 seats, Congress is ahead in 34 constituencies. Meanwhile, 9 AIUDF candidates are leading. Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi is leading in Sibsagar. 

    beating  BJP's Surabhi Rajkonwar by 1936 votes. This is Gogoi's first election that he is fighting.

    Congress' Rakibul Hussain won from the Samaguri seat. He trounced BJP's Anil Saikia and Abidur Rahman of the Assam Jatiya Parishad.

    Piyush Hazarika trailing from the Jagiroad constituency

    Assam minister of state for health Piyush Hazarika, seen close to Himanta Biswa Sarma, is trailing from the Jagiroad constituency by over 5,000 votes.

    Pijush Hazarika had won the 2016 election with almost one lakh votes.

    The Jagiroad constituency, which is reserved for members of the Scheduled Castes (SC) community, is part of the Nowgong Lok Sabha segment.

    Assam Polls: BJP opens account with win in Sootea

    BJP's Padma Hazarika has won the Sootea seat by a margin of 24,155 votes. He defeated Praneswar Basumatary of the Congress party.
