New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan has been booked for violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.

The Okhla MLA was charged after he was seen campaigning with over 100 supporters in Zakir Nagar on Tuesday night. Khan has been booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for disobeying public servant orders and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Khan has been facing multiple criminal cases, and this marks another legal issue for the MLA.

Meanwhile, his party colleague, MLA Dinesh Mohaniya, has been booked for allegedly giving a flying kiss to a BJP woman worker. AAP's Ajay Dutt also faces accusations related to the assault of a BJP woman worker by his family members.

On Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, an AAP candidate for the Kalkaji seat, was also booked for violating the MCC. Her supporters were further accused of obstructing government work and slapping a police officer. Following the incidents, CM Atishi criticized the Delhi Police and the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing them of partisan actions.

On social media, she alleged that Ramesh Bidhuri's family, her opponent in the Kalkaji constituency, was openly violating the MCC without facing any consequences. Atishi took to X, stating, "The Election Commission is also amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji's family members are openly violating the Model Code of Conduct. No action is being taken against them."

In response, BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri dismissed Atishi's claims, suggesting that she was panicking due to the election results and advising her not to undermine the dignity of her office.

Additionally, Ramesh Bidhuri's nephew, Manish Bidhuri, has been booked under the Representation of the People Act.

Voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly is ongoing, with results set to be declared on February 8. The contest remains a fierce battle between the ruling AAP, the BJP, and the Congress.
