AR Rahman joins Ed Sheeran performing Urvasi Urvasi in Chennai
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Ed Sheeran's concert in Chennai offered a rare occasion of the British singer collaborating with composer AR Rahman staging a mesmerizing performance.
A mashup of Sheeran's raging hit Shape of You and Rahman's classic Urvasi Urvasi left the crowds in thrall.
Later sharing the video on Instagram the British singer wrote ‘What an honour @AR Rahman (sic).’
Just as Ed Sheeran crooned the Shape of You, AR Rahman joined with his Urvasi Urvasi chorus.
The pairing of legends raked up comments online with some recalling their concert experience.
Many wished they were in the audience with one user exclaiming ‘How lucky is Chennai’.
Ed Sheeran reportedly met AR Rahman and his son AR Ameen prior to the concert and later Rahman shared a picture of the meeting that showed them sitting on a couch.
Another picture showed Rahman sitting at his music console with Sheeran clicking a photo to which Rahman wrote in the caption, ‘Photos by Ed Sheeran’.
Ed Sheeran's performance in Chennai was part of the singer’s six-city India tour beginning in Pune on January 30 and performed in Hyderabad at Ramoji Film City on February 2.
He will perform in cities including Bengaluru, Shillong, and Delhi.
