Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has officially launched its upgraded Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai, marking a major step forward in its design and innovation capabilities.

The new studio significantly expands the company's design footprint, doubling the size of its previous facility and reinforcing its long-term commitment to design-led product development.

Originally established in 2015, MIDS was created to serve the design needs of Mahindra’s Auto and Farm sectors. Now, with Mahindra’s expanding portfolio that includes Auto, Farm, and Last Mile Mobility (LMM), the enhanced studio comes equipped with cutting-edge design infrastructure, advanced technology, and global-standard practices to meet the growing demands.

One of the key roles of the revamped MIDS will be to serve as a dynamic link between Mahindra’s India-based operations and its international design arm, Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) in the UK. This global collaboration aims to craft products that embody Indian pride with an international appeal.

Commenting on the launch, Ajay Saran Sharma, Senior Vice President of Design and Head of MIDS, said, “This new version of MIDS brings in world-class design tools and technologies that significantly boost our capacity and capability. The expanded space allows us to manage a growing number of projects end-to-end — from the initial concept sketch all the way to production. The studio now includes new specialized functions such as HMI Design, Design Quality, and Realisation, alongside traditional design verticals.”

Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., added, “We are excited to open our future-ready MIDS. It will become a magnet for top design talent in India and serve as a major automotive design hub. The creative impact of MIDS will shape Mahindra’s product aesthetics and innovation for years to come.”
